I have always thought that the '55 and '56 Chevy pickups had the same grille. Is this true?? Also is the '57 grille (being different) interchangeable in the grille opening? I got into a discussion at a cruise-in last weekend and was not sure .Thanks in advance .........Dude

Yes they are interchangable. Save getting into one ton trucks and above, where it gets really weird. And I mean, really.

The grille opening is the same size on the 55-56 and the 57, but the crossbar between the fenders, just under the front leading edge of the hood of the 57 is different. It has 4 indented spots with a hole in the center of each for securing the outside ring of the grille. The fenders on the 57 also has three of these indents on the leading edge of the grille opening. So in answer to your question, regarding interchangability of the 57 grille into the 55-56, NO!  Not without some modifications. Been there, know what I'm talking about.

Glad to be of help. You're exactly right about learning something new everyday. I've been at this truck stuff for 30 yrs. plus and still learning. The best lesson yet, is to stay away stuff made by the J.A.Pan company. Learned that one from others mistakes.
