I need some wheel advice

So, my dad wants me to be in charge of "fixing up" his 73 Ford Stepside truck.  I want to do a satin black with red interior and red powder coated wheels.  I don't currently have access to it, but I am picking up the truck in two weeks and would like to get a jumpstart on ordering parts.

Does anyone know the rim size for a 1973 F250?  I do know that it has an eight-bolt lug pattern.  I wanted to do a Spider Cap or Shannon Cone, but those seem to only be for 5 and 6 lugs.  I guess a push-through style Bullet Cap is an alternative.  I wanted to do white walls, but my pops just got new black wall tires put on it.  I've seen those Port-o-Walls / White Wall Toppers out there, but do they actually work?  Let me know if you can help.

Thanks!  Bo in Sacramento, CA

your truck should have 16" wheels or 16.5" wheels. Coker tire is a good source
for wide whites. I don't think I would use those port-o-walls..........

They should, just dry fit to make sure they fit.

Thanks.  I will pick up the truck today or tomorrow.  I am worried that the hub hole will be too large for a bullet cone.  Doesn't seem like there are too many choices...

You can always run a hub adapter.

Warwagon, the Tahoe wheels are negative offset, and IIRC, the center holes is too small.

Dads73, I'm going to disagree with the boss, here.  Hub adapters on a 3/4 ton pickup......scares the hell out of me.  While not as plentiful as car wheels, there are a lot of good looking wheels to fit your rig.  With luck, you might even find some retro 8-holers.  Maybe, as simple as some powdercoated stock steel, with dog dishes, or baby moons & trim rings.

mpayne and PackRatWrecker,

Thanks.  Will a hub adapter allow me to fit anything I want?  Why wouldn't a hub adapter hold a 3/4 ton?  Is it a weight issue for the axel?  Obviously, I'm a newbie and any info or advice would be great.  My first choice would be a 5-lug spider cap, and second would be a push through bullet cone or Shannon Cone.  Regardless, I plan on poweder coating the rims the color red.

Well, first off...
No hub adapter will make a 5-lug wheel fit over a full floater rear axle hub.
Then...
At best, the adapters are goig to add 1/2" to the track width of each wheel.  Which means, either you wheels stick out more than they should, or you spend more than you should for the correct offset wheels.

IMHO, if you want a 1/2ton pickup, change out the 3/4ton parts.  Adapters are a dangerous shortcut to a disaster.
