i just bought a 55 F100, found VIN plate in glove box. Any good sites to decode? i believe it is the 272 engine. would like to verify all codes for paint,etc. will be a project. not sure whether to restore or modify,
GE-4-M  CE10120

1955 had a 239 cu. The V is the 239 code. The Y-Block web site has a break down of casting numbers to check your block and heads. Casting numbers are on passenger side below head and there are numbers on head also. Can't remember where they are located .  .  I had a '56 that the previous owner said for years had a 292 when I was replacing all of the gaskets I checked the casting numbers and found it had the 272 with 312 heads. Dude-")

you probably have an LMC catalogue floating around they have a VIN decoder in the front few pages of it also another page is a ford truck enthusiasts page I believe the address is they do have a vin decoder there. Best of luck to you
