i just got a 1965 ford F350. and i'm having problems getting it stated. It'll turn over and i have fuel getting to the carb, but it won't fire. i got new spark plugs but it still won't fire. Does anyone have any ideas to whats wrong other then a bad carb?
if you prime it at the carb and it doesn't run try pulling the coil wire off and cranking the motor see if the coil is firing.if the coil is firing pull a plug wire and do the same. this should narrow your search down, also check the compression it should be a least 90psi to run at all.
alright. it does fire when i prime it though. what then?
the carb may need a good cleaning. the needle valve on the float is most likely dirty or stuck. also the Accelerator Pump may be bad. i would take the carb off and take it apart and use a couple of cans of carp cleaner and clean all the parts and jets. on the Accelerator Pump double check if your getting fuel in the carb if not it's ether filter or the needle valve.
ok. thank you.
another thing to check is if the fuel pump is working... remove the fuel line at the carb and put the end of it in a dry water bottle remove the coil wire and crank it over for 10 seconds and see if it is pumping fuel. if not you need a fuel pumpWhat engine do you have?
i'm proud to say it is running, and i drove it to school today. it has a 352 in it. the gear ratio is really low, so it only goes 35 mph at the max hahaha
