NEW HERE WITH A NEW PROJECT. I HAVE A 51 3/4 TON LONG BED LOOKING TO MAKE INTO SHORTBED SPECS. ANY ONE KNOW HOW MUCH FRAME TO CUT AND WHERE? DOES THE VERY BACK OF THE FRAME HAVE TO BE CUT OR JUST BEHIND THE BED? ANY ADVICE OR LINKS WOULD BE GREAT.
I watch the TRUCKS! tv show on the Spike network and they converted a C-10 longbed to a shortbed a few years ago. If you go to powerblocktv.com, I think you may be able to access the episode; you might have to buy the DVD. I think the episode was February 17, 2008 (TK2007-10). Sounds like a neat project.Good luck,Steve

The 3100 series has a wheel base of 116" and the 3600 series has wheel base of 125 1/4" and the 3800 series has wheel base of 137" so the frame would have to be cut in front of the axle to get the wheel base proper best place is where the frame is straight and nothing mounted doesn't have to be same spot on both sides just cut same amount out of both sides Z cut or 45 angle works good and fish plate it and your done.I cut a board on my miter saw the right size to remove and put it on the frame and marked it then you get an exact fit.Hope this helps. The rear of the box is longer on the 3800 but not the others.
