Hi everyone,

Again I am new to the forums but I have been reading them for over a year now as I have been working on my truck. I have actually been building my truck for 4 years now and can't afford to pay for all the fancy shops to do all the work so I doing everything myself, so your forum has been a great help.

I have completed the blasting and coating of the frame, building the the 302 and AOD, and rear end, redone all the body work and paint and re-assembling now ready to wire and get to all the finicky stuff on the interior.

I have a question for anyone out there with wiring experience on electric seats, I have a perfect set of 02 Explorer leather buckets I would like to put in my F100 but I am having trouble getting the driver side to work as it have a memory module unit built into the wiring. Can this module be by-passed or removed out of the wiring to make a regular power seat like the passenger side or would I have to by new motors to swap out?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Kevin P.

Welcome to the forum,The motors should not be any differant but i have run in to a lot of differant systems, but the switch basicly changes the polarity of the motor to make it go both directions,so you should be able to test the wires going to the motors and coming from the switch and make a drawing and just make up a wire harness.I just changed a set from a 04 vette to fit a 06 gto platform and the vette switches change the ground side of the motor and the gto changes the power side of the motors and i wired it so the work together but just test it with a test light and you should be able to do it.I don't have a wire diagram for that 02 truck but if you do post it and i could probably help you out.Hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply, I will trace out the wiring to the motors and try to isolate the switch wiring to separate the memory module crap using the passensger seat wiring as a model to try and duplicate.

There seems to be extra wiring going to the back side of the driver seat motors that I will have to check out that must have something to do with the memory module crap but it will do some testing with a test light.

So far I can't even get the seat to even power up by trying to get power to to it from what should be the normal power wires becasue the memory module seems to be locking out the seat from any functions at all.

Hey Autotec,
That’s a quite relevant post that you have posted here. My bucket truck shows the same problem and I was just looking for the best possible solution when I stumbled upon your post. Will definitely follow the process that you have mentioned.
