Hey there everyone.  I have a 1951 GMC 9300 and I am wanting to put a SBC and 700R4 Trans into it.  Does anybody make a kit to make this conversion easy.  I would imagine this swap happens everyday with these trucks, has someone caught on to making a kit?  LMC truck has V8 Motor Mounts and Trans Mounts for T350, T400 and 700R4, but they are listed for 1955-1959 models.  Will these work on a '51 either as is or with some modification or not at all?  There is a shop here that will make me a custom length drive shaft so that is not a concern this time.

Also, Are there any other issues that i should be aware of?  Should i be using a 3 spd T350 instead? etc.

Go to - they have many universal motor mount kits which ease the pain of engine swaps ! They offer a free catalog and many miscellaneous pieces you may need for your project !

Steering box is tight for most headers/exhaust manifolds. Some space out the stock box and accept the slight angle this puts the steering wheel at, some put in kits
that use a later steering box moved up front. Trans is your preference-350 trans is
a little smaller but either can fit. Rear end on 1/2 tons are not open style so plan
on changing the rear end. Larger trucks have an open rear already but the gearing
starts at 4:57 so you will be running at a high rpm even with an overdrive, so
most swap rear ends here also. There are lots of kits for front brakes for 1/2 tons
but none I am aware of for larger trucks.
