Unrealistic claims for vehicle miles driven

Was reading an old CT when I noticed that in Dec 2000 under "Classic Top 5" there was a 47 Chevy that looked real nice. The write-up said... If the truck looked familiar it was because it had been in umpteen hundred shows over the prior three years "racking up 32,000 miles". Now I agree the truck looks good. That was what caught my eye, but I have to wonder about the claim on the number of miles. If in fact this truck had been driven 32,000 miles over three years I would think it would make a great article on how you could keep a custom truck looking new and show ready while driving all those miles. On the other hand I wonder if in fact the 32,000 miles were really the mileage of the tow vehicle and the enclosed trailer. If so then the statement of "racking up" lots of miles was quite misleading. Now this is an old story, but I have to wonder if similar statements of mileages made today are just as misleading. I'm not interested in starting an argument or battle between actual drivers vs trailer miles, but feel that any statement on miles should only be about those a vehicle has driven under its own power. Pampered show vehicles are works of art and to be appreciated but they should not be compared with vehicles that are actally registered and driven to and from shows.
