I am going to build a 327 and i have some questions on how to pull over 400hp while still making it streetable if thats possible. I I want probably like 425 somewhere around there. Dosnt matter if its to the wheel not going to raise but if possible that would be better. Ty

Hi Ty welcome aboard:
1.My first question what parts do you have?
2.What are you putting it in?
3.Is it an automatic of a manual trans?
4.How will it be used as a street/strip or street only?
Of course there is a lot more questions. But if you have a starting foundation lets hear it. There are so many combinations.
What do you have. Heads the P/N. The block small or large journal. Intake manifold, carburetor what size.
NOW the Big Question your "BUDGET"?
Ty: 400 HP on a 327 isn't hard to do. But it's much easier to do with a little more Cubic Inches. But if you don't have a base a 350 or a 383 some other combination. But Cubic Inches make things happen. Be open minded if someone suggests bigger cubes, because once you go on this journey it's hard to turn back. What I'm saying, if you start purchasing parts I.E. cylinder heads for a specific build you will need to stay with them. The same goes for the intake, cam selection, etc, etc, etc. 400+ HP is really about the max for a street driven car/truck. Then you go into another relm ...LOL... I love to make HP, and a SBC is a good engine to start with. Boy it will be fun to build. There is another way to go, GM makes some great crate engines. But again budget is a key. Anyway let us know what you have, and we can get started....
