hi everyone, im kindof new here. i am in the process of restoring my 1953 chevy 1 ton. i am putting in a 350 with a stock transmission and driveline, because i am using the stock tranny, i cant have the engine offset an inch, so i will mabey have to move the steering gearbox out about 1.5 inches i think. or find some extremely tight fitting manifolds or headers. does anybody have any ideas what i can do, maby get a new steering box off of something else or any special manifolds? i heard that manifolds from a 93 chevy caprice with a 350 would work, i dont know though.thank you in advance, kale
there are a bunch of different styles of block hugger headers .. people have even mounted right hand exhaust on the left side with a forward downward outlet..kinda gets in the way of power steering pumps.. but you could also flip the right hand manifold upside down for an upward forward exhaust ,what.. yea... crazy... perhaps.. check out the block huggers.. some actually come down and bend toward the back.. so you don't need a short tight angle bolted on..i took a quick look for block hugger headers for a small block chevy.. spotted these on ebay..
let me post a linkhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Block-Chevy-Plain-Steel-Exhaust-Headers-w-Side-Collector-Angle-Plug-/350580393506as thats the next question.i don't know if this will help...
ok thank you, i may have just found my headers. Hopefully these will work, Ill call the supplier, thank you very much-Kale
there are DOZENS.. of designs... post some pictures on photobucket and then the links here when you get them done..or even images as you are going thru the process.. it will help others building similar trucks..
i will, thankyou
