Looking for a good deal on custom brake kit for 1984 Chevy C10 SWB. For the front and possibly the back depending on the cost. ThanksThommy
there are a bunch of them listed in the print issues of the magazine ads.. i don't have a copy with me this weekend.. are you going to massive wheel and tire sizes and need to fill the empty area...before you order anything..please find the RPO option label and identify which brake system you have installed on your truck...With JB5, JD3, JD5 brake systemWith JB1, JB3 brake systemthe label could be on the inner fender.. on the air cleaner .. in the glove box.. on the door jam..looks like this.please also pay attention to brake bias .. this is a major calculation to ensure that 2/3rds of the braking is on the front wheels and 1/3 on the rears...get this wrong and you can have serious braking issues..this all varies depending on tire sizing.. width x outside diameter.. individual loads on the 4 tires.. and a bunch of other things...you should be able to get drilled or slotted rotors for this application.. and there is caliper paint available that will work on the calipers... you can even using care.. grind some of the corners and markings down on the calipers.. before painting them.. there are several articles on painting the calipers.. caliper brackets/spindles.. rotor hubs.. the only spot that paint is probably not going to stick well is the vents between the rotor faces.. a lot of heat there..there are a few companies that offer cryo treated rotors and others that offer plated rotors.. so they continue to look decent..
Thanks for the helpful info. I will look in to this. I plan on going with 20'' Rims nothing bigger than that. Whats a good kit for the rear that has a park brake???ThanksThommy
