Hello all, can anyone tell me did the 1959 Chevy come out with a 12 volt or 6 volt system, I have a 1959 Apache 3100 with a 235 inline 6, I am needing this info for the correct Pertronics electronic ignition I was told by Summit that the 1168LSP12 was the correct one but now buddy of mine advised that 1168LSP6 was what I needed, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks T.Pope

Hey T the 59 should be 12v but the way to tell is are the wires cloth coved , if so it is a 6v and the 12v system has a voltage regulator on the fire wall I think that is were it was located or on the inner fender.
