Hello Guys! I'm currently in Brazil and we have a slightly different C-10 here than you.. Mine is a 1975 but it has some visuals from the american late sixties model with some looks on the hood like an early seventies american C-10, but the project is global, so we sometimes import some stuff from North America to properly tune our South American version. I wish to lower some 4 inches in the front (the rear is another story, will receive a tri bar setup) and i need some help choosing the stuff to acomplish the mission with good looks, good handling, normal geometry and still having a close to stock confort on it...I've seen there are some "drop spindles" there in USA, 2 - 2,5 and 3 inches drop, saw some 2 inches drop coils, saw some different lower control arms and specific shocks for lowered trucks.... Now i have to choose what should i buy from all that to acomplish the mission correctly and have some doubts, but first let me post a pic off the project:It is a totally yellow and black C-10 with moded front and rear lights in led and with a black JW Speaker Led headlights too, dark roof and wheels too, a custom sound tuned for quality and 265/50/20 in the front and meaty 295/45/20 in the rear (had to enlarge the inner panels) and off course, as any HotRod Truck, it need to be lowered...So, please any advice and enlight, ent about the following matters would help me a lot please:1) To accomplish a 4 inch drop in the front axle, with the confort, handling and geometry fine, the best thing to do is to use a drop spindle and some smaller height coils? right. Wrong???2) What aree the odds off choosing a 2 x 2,5 x 3 inch drop spindle in the front beside the obvious ammount off drop? I mean, if i choose the 3 inch drop spindle and a 2 inch drop coil, i would end with a 5 inch drop and probably need different control arms to help compensate the geometry? So, maybe 2 inch drop spindle would be less hassle?3) I have put a later model vented rotor disk brakes on the four corners. Are there any problems with the drop spindles and the brakes? Is there something i should think about before hand? Is there a limit to caliper/disc thickness for clearance...? 4) have someone heard of DJM products! should i go for them or anybody recomments a different suplyer for the drop spindles and parts?thanks everybody in advance!
Sorry for the triple post guys... it kept saying there was an error and i kept trying.... glad i didn't make it ten times Let's kep it under this one here i think
this is where i started:and this is where i am (last week):
ah, and don't worry, it will not, have the radioactive logo on the final version! :-)
no... you must have a decal like that.. but instead of 3 bars.. make it 5 bars like your wheels.. and instead of radioactive.. "Way to go active"there are 2 magazines you are going to want to check thru the articles..this one.. classic trucksand also custom classic trucks.. click my user name for a link to the other.. or just type custom in front of the classic trucks http://www.customclassictrucks.com/there may also be some articles in truckin http://www.truckinweb.comnice work on the truck, from what i see.. its going to be a show stopper..
Thanks Wayne! i'm not shure it's going to be a show stopper, as it is a simole project with a "litle bit more" on the looks side. If it depends on the colour, oh yes it's gonna be he he
