I'm getting some countering information trying to get one of these. The piston is in bad shape and I can't get it out of the bore. So I'm just going to replace. It is a front passenger, 1 1/16". Some of the parts stores can't get them. The prices vary wildly for those who can, and they can't get them quick. I tried Rock Auto, and every picture shows a double sided. Mine are single sided only. Not that the pictures always represent what you get. It almost looks like the double deal would bolt in and work, but not sure it would be right.I appreciate any advice I can get here.
hmm.... single or double... check your vin number...seems that one catalog shows wheel cylinders available in single ended or double ended ..http://www.johnsf100.com/catalog_download/1957-1966_catalog.pdf48 to 60 are single ended...61 to 64 are double ended..there is a foot note.. that one can add an additional pin to the brake shoes to convert single sided to double sided.. pin basic part number 2042A

I see that footnote. Strangely, most of the books say that late serial numbers in 63 are singles. Mine is a late number. Don't know what it came with exactly. I'm not entirely sure how those singles work as well as they do. Seems like the double would get more consistent shoe wear.Thank you for the direction. Local carquest found what I need, but need to wait a few days for it. The catalog you posted is a few bucks cheaper though, so I may consider them for the future for sure.
