Me and my dad have been in the process of fixing up his 67 Chevy Truck. We've had the truck about 12 yrs now and for about 6-7yrs+ it's been on the back burner. My dad has done some body work on it. It all looks good and smooth but there's one part behind the cab that is starting to crack. The bondo hasn't been primered yet. The rest of the truck is Primer Grey and in pieces. We're wanting to start back on it and finish it this year, at least the paint job so we can put it all back together. So I've got a few questions1.) The one little piece of Bondo that has flacked off (the bondo is still there just a top layer of it has flaked off and cracked) What should we do about this?2.) What is a good paint brand for a beginner to use. We've painted a front cap on a truck before about 10yrs ago and it came out good as far as evenness and there were no runs in it, BUT the guy that told us how to paint it obviously didn't know what he was talking about because he told us that we had to spray the clear coat on BEFORE that paint dried or it'd be ruined. SO we were out there trying to hurry up and clean the gun out so we could start spraying. The clear coat looks on the parts of the fenders that were dried but on the parts that were still wet looks like orange peel. It's been 10yrs and it still is on there good and hasn't changed so I guess were did ok there lol. 2.) Our paint set up is a small shop, has a concrete floor, we have a huge air compressor (don't know the size off the top of my head but I know it will paint cars) and years ago my dad bought a really nice paint gun at the time (can't remember what it is off the top of my head either tho, but we used it to paint the front cap of the other truck and he used it to spray the primer on this one.) What all do we need to do to have the shop ready to paint?3.) Colors. We were thinking of going Satin black because we figured it'd be the easiest. Is it? Is there a certain paint brand that I should use etc?4.) Colors. If we didn't go Satin Black then we thought about some "cool color" We like the House of Kolor paints that we have seen especially this one green we saw. But I'm wondering is it hard to paint and easy to mess up in the process?5.) The truck - Should we paint all the pieces separately and then put the truck together, or put the truck together to paint it? The struck is stripped and primered gray, the whole thing, not a drop of color anywhere. SO thanks in advance if anyone can help us out and answer any of these questions.
