Hi,This year I've started my first truck restoration project with my father. We're restoring a 59' Chevy Apache Stepside. Right now we think the engine in the truck is out of a 72' Monte Carlo (not positive, but based on some research that appears to be what it is). It's going to be a while before I get to the powertrain part of the restoration but I wanted to get a head start on some research. My end goal is to be able to drive this on a regular basis in the summer, with the occasional trip to the drag strip. So I want a good balance of performance and power. Something I can run on the drag strip, but also drive to work/cruise 3-4 day a week in the summer months. Do you guys have any engine suggestions for me? Obviously money will be a concern when it comes down to it but I would like some different opinions so I can see all of my options. Thanks!
Anything made with a 350 is the cheapest small block you can build. Make a 383 is probably the best power for the buck system.
find yourself a cheap big blocksave that american made block casting for when your through playingthey getting harder to find
