I have a 1955 2nd series step side that came from the factory with a 265 V8 and a 4spd hydramatic. I am the 3rd owner and drove the truck in high school in the 70s. I am doing a off frame restoration and installing a big block in front of a rebuilt  hydramatic. I am not cutting the front frame, just upgrading springs and adding disc brakes, but cannot decide whether to upgrade the rear suspension by cutting the frame and installing a Art Morrison rear clip with a 9" to get some serious wide tires in back. This is a rare truck and keep wondering should i do this. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

If you've had the truck over 40 years, then do to it what you want and don't worry about anything else.  There are enough out there in original condition that you should make this your personal baby.
